Creed - www.creed.com Despite Scott Stapp's voice, this band's history, influence, and success in the rock music industry have been undeniable. My favourite song by them in recent memory would have to be "Never Die" from their human clay album, it's the kind of song you can listen to and really enjoy no matter what kind of mood you're in. If you're able to get past anything you have against Creed, you can realize they write some pretty good songs and can appreciate them for helping keep rock alive. I suggest downloading "Never Die", "Inside Us All", "My Sacrifice", "Torn", and a song affectionately referred to as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" which I'm sure isn't the name but it's been called this by thousands of people.
Incubus - www.enjoyincubus.com I first realized that Incubus was special after I had the song "Pardon Me" on my MP3 playlist for months and for some reason every time I heard it it was like the first time I was hearing it, this is another song that for many reasons I just didn't get sick of hearing. I suggest downloading "Pardon Me", "Stellar", the acoustic versions of both, and "Drive"
Coldplay - www.coldplay.com Coldplay's an awesome band good enough to break in to the tough-to-break-in-to international market, bands such as Our Lady Peace have taken years and multiple albums to make an impact on. Coldplay has a unique and fresh yet simple melodic sound, if you've never been exposed to Coldplay then get a hold of the song "Trouble" and listen for yourself, both of their albums have been really well done so you should check them out. I suggest downloading "Trouble", "Yellow", "The Scientist", and "In My Place"
Collective soul - www.collectivesoul.com If you've never heard of Collective soul, you must've been under a rock for the last 9 years or heavily sedated. Collective Soul broke into rock music big during the grunge rock era which is when alot of bands I really like came about, Collective Soul are renowned for their long-term success in the industry, last year released a greatest hits collection that sold very well, and have written some really good songs in the what will be 9 years as of 2003 that they've been in the business. I suggest downloading "Shine", "Heavy", and "December"
Veruca salt - www.verucasalt.com Even though Veruca Salt initially broke up in 1999 and has been pretty much completely defunct since 2001, it's still one of my favourite bands, the way Louise Post and Nina Gordon wrote music was really revolutionary, they basically came out of nowhere in 1994 and made a big impact on the rock scene, they were very riff-heavy and wrote some really "different" lyrics for their songs, but they had really neat structure and it was awesome the way a song would go from soft to hard in a really unique fashion. I suggest downloading "25", "Earthcrosser", "Volcano Girls", "Only You Know", "Good Disaster", "Number One Blind" and "Get Back"
Nina Gordon - www.ninagordon.com Nina Gordon is one of the original members of Veruca Salt, she -along with Louise Post wrote, sang, and played guitar in a band that was all their own, when the band broke up Nina immediately started writing her own solo work. (Nina wrote all of the bands popular hits: Seether, Volcano Girls, Benjamin) Nina's song "Tonight and the Rest of My Life" was featured on the "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" soundtrack, but despite any involvement in a Nicolas Cage movie, Nina's music really grows on you. I suggest downloading "Hate Your Way", "New Year's Eve", "Number One Camera", "Black and Blonde", and "Badway"
Our Lady Peace - www.ourladypeace.com Our Lady Peace has been my favourite band since grade 6, and I am glad to say that they still are today! They've influenced my musical tastes in a major way, when I first really started to notice music I remember seeing them on television and the first album I ever listened to was Clumsy, and I listened to it pretty much every night front to back before I went to sleep. Every single album Our Lady Peace has made I've really enjoyed, even though some have been better than others, their new album "Gravity" is an awesome and amazing step in the right direction, I've never had to be ashamed to be an OLP fan my whole life. I suggest downloading "Naveed", "Starseed", "Superman's Dead", "Clumsy", "Stealing Babies", "One Man Army", "The Wonderful Future", "If You Believe", "All For You", "Not Enough", and "Bring Back The Sun"
Rage Against The Machine - www.ratm.com Rage Against The Machine is not only an amazing band musically but they truly do practice what their name says, whether it be shutting down the New York Stock Exchange by holding a free concert on the streets, standing naked on stage without playing for 15 minutes as a protest against censorship in modern day society, or public demonstrations of their dissatisfaction with the way the United States is run or the ideals of the world, they're not afraid to speak out for what they believe in. Although RATM has split up a part of the band lives on as "Audioslave" sans(without) Zack De La Rocha but avec(with) Chris Cornell formerly of Soundgarden, RATM will always be remembered and renowned. I suggest downloading "Bombtrack", "Renegades of Funk", "Guerilla Radio", "Know Your Enemy", "Microphone Fiend", and "No Shelter"
Switchfoot - www.switchfoot.com My favourite Christian band, Switchfoot has a very unique and well composed style bringig some much needed diversity to it's genre and even going as far as to not be grouped into it with such lesser talented bands as DC Talk and Audio Adrenaline, Switchfoot gives you more then you would expect and then a lot more. I suggest downloading "Incomplete", "Evergreen", "Chem 6a", "Bomb", "Edge of My Seat", "Sooner or Later", "Innocence Again", "Something More"
System of a Down - www.systemofadown.com System of a down's coming together as a band can't be seen as anything but a definite twist of fate considering they are all Armenanians which are a race of people who were virtually wiped out and met together sharing the same musical vision in the United states. SOAD has a one of a kind hard-to-soft melodic instrumental rock sound ranging from one side of the spectrum to the other, SOAD has the potential to leave a powerful impression on the music industry for years to come. I suggest downloading "Innervision", "Chop Suey", "Aerials", "Toxicity", "ATWA"
The Tragically Hip - www.thehip.com The Tragically Hip are legends of the Canadian Music Business, despite their lack of success in the american market, The Hip boast an impressive compliment of successful albums, a large, solid, loyal fanbase, and an ongoing and lasting success that could rival any rock stars today, The Hip to not just Canadians but to music fans around the world. I suggest downloading "Ahead By a Century", "Greasy Jungle", "Poets", "My Music At Work"

Finger Eleven - www.fingereleven.com One of the fastest rising bands today, Finger Eleven started out with a bang getting signed late in the 90's and have risen to star status picking up a growing following everywhere they go, it won't be long until they reach the real kind of mainstream success a band this talented is destined to. I suggest downloading "Bones and Joints", "Broken Words", "Drag You Down", "First Time", "Quicksand", "Slow Chemical"
Stone Temple Pilots - www.stonetemplepilots.com A rock-turned-pop band, Stone Temple Pilots really missed with their latest CD featuring the pop hit "Days of the Week", songs just like this one caused the band's large grunge following to abandon them for having sold out and "betrayed" their fans, even though this may all be true, the band's old stuff is still worth checking out and there's still alot of good that could come out of this band in the future, the single "Sour Girl" off of the newest album is evidence of this and quite worth checking out. I suggest downloading "Dead and Bloated", "Interstate Love Song", "Plush", "Sex Type Thing", "Sour Girl", "Wicked Garden"
Sixpence None The Richer - www.sixpence-ntr.com Sixpence None The Richer is a really basic, mellow sounding band with brilliantly simple chord progressions and is most recognized for the hit "Kiss Me" from the She's All That soundtrack. Strangely enough, the album "Kiss Me" was featured on was released long before the movie and was before that only looked at as a "Christian Music Album". Sixpence NTR's record sales skyrocketed after the "Kiss Me" topped the charts and the band soon after went on a break from the business until they recently released their newest album with the single "Breathe Your Name", still remaining true to their christian ideals and sticking with the same yet more advanced musical style that made the success they were. I suggest downloading "Kiss Me", "Breathe Your Name" "There She Goes"
Superchic[k] - www.superchick.net Superchic[k] is the newest high-energy female-lead teen garage band on the scene, there's an interesting mix between rock, pop, punk, and funk, with some really well done mixing to make it all come together and work nicely. Superchic[k] is yet another "Christian Band" who was talented and likeable enough to come outside of the fold and the label of being just a "Christian Band" and gaining alot of popularity in the mainstream music industry. I suggest downloading "Karaoke Superstars", "One Girl Revolution", "Get Up", "Holy Moment", "So Bright", "Alright"
Sevendust - www.sevendust.com Sevendust is a really good alternative rock band headlined by the powerful, unique voice of Lajon Witherspoon which has a strong underground following and little mainstream attention other then "Angels Son" which is widely known by some people, Sevendust are underground Gods of the Alternative rock world. I suggest downloading "Damaged", "Fall", "Live Again", "Waffle", "Black", "Beautiful", "Shine"
Tegan and Sara - www.teganandsara.com Two twin sisters with amazing songwriting talent and a refreshing acoustic sound, Tegan and Sara Quin are surely becoming steadily more popular and with their talent are bound to make a huge impact on the music scene here in Canada, being such young bright talents and the great start they've had already, the sky is the limit for these two. I suggest downloading "Superstar", "The First"
Remy Zero - www.remyzero.com The first time I ever heard Remy Zero was on the opening credits of the TV Series "Smallville" it really grabbed my attention as a cool and unique sound so I soon discovered more about the band and was really impressed by the "just passing through" version of the song "Prophecy" Remy Zero became a staple on my mp3 list and that's why I wrote this about them, a rising favourite for sure. I suggest downloading "Perfect Memory", "Save Me", "Prophecy", "Twister"
Nirvana - www.geffen.com/nirvana Nirvana was revolutionary and changed the face of the rock industry forever. Nirvana is even more famous because of the suicide of lead singer Kurt Cobain, recently Nirvana's work has been re-released so it seems appropriate to re-educate everyone about the band, Nirvana's music is definitely worth looking into if you're not familiar with it for if nothing then to judge it for yourself, but I recommend it and tell you that the hype is not all for nothing. I suggest downloading "Come As You Are", "Lithium", "Rape Me", "Heart Shaped Box", "Polly", "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
Fozzy - www.fozzyrock.com Fozzy is a modern-day 80's metal band with a high-voltage re-energized sound headlined by the WWE's very own Chris Jericho, it's truly some awesome, fun, and fired up music and I recommend you check it out. I suggest downloading"End of Days", "Over the Mountain", "Happenstance", "To Kill a Stranger", "Genie in a Bottle", "Stand up and Shout"
